We are thrilled to announce that Studio Atkinson has been awarded Best UK Residential Project by Homes & Gardens for 2025, for our Chelsea Barracks Penthouse project.
This project felt quite different to our usual work as Chelsea Barracks is a newly built development and therefore didn’t have the traditional interior architecture that we’re more used to working with. The penthouse is vast, and so our focus was to soften the interior, introduce warmth and interest, and ultimately make it feel more homely. It was important to create a series of zones to make it feel more cossetting and considered, rather than open and impersonal.
When we first began, the rooms felt quite simple and bare, and so we wanted to introduce lots of patterns, textural fabrics, antiques and layered elements to give the space depth and a sense of evolution over time.
The rooftop garden, which wraps around the entirety of the apartment, also became an extension of that thinking. We divided it into distinct areas - a herb garden off the kitchen, a dining and entertaining space centered around the incredible outdoor bar, and a secluded wellness area with a sauna and ice bath that overlooks the rooftops towards central London.
It was a hugely collaborative effort from the team, and we’re hugely grateful to Homes & Gardens for the recognition.
